New Android App – OneSuite Mobile Dialer

Written by

Hello, OneSuite users on Android! We’ve just launched the OneSuite Mobile Dialer app for Android, free for download at Android Market.

No Wi-Fi or data plan required! The app acts as your invisible hand, eliminating the need to dial access numbers, PINs or destination numbers. You’ll know you’re being connected when you hear the prompts, just sit back until your call is picked up.

The OneSuite app has some great features built specifically for Android, let’s take a look at:

Setup

  1. After you’ve downloaded the app, open it and you’ll see the OneSuite Mobile Dialer. (as shown in image 1)
  2. Go to Settings, and you’ll see the interface as shown in image 2.
  3. Quick Dial Mode: Dialing Preferences > Quick Dial Mode > Tap to turn it on
  4. Direct Dial Settings: Direct Dial Settings > 1). Enter your Account Number (PIN), skip if you have ZipDial set up for your cell phone number already, or see “Improve Your Calling Experience 1”; 2). Keep the default U.S. local access number or enter another local access number. If you’re outside of the U.S. or Canada, enter an international access number.
  5. OneSuite Mobile Dialer Integration: You can then set your dialer usage method, such as opting to connect to OneSuite directly from Android’s contact list or call log without opening the OneSuite App:
    • Use OneSuite Mobile Dialer for all my calls (not suggested unless you’d like to use OneSuite for your domestic calls)
    • Ask which dialer to use for each call: when you make calls, you will be prompted to complete the call using either OneSuite Mobile Dialer, or the phone’s dialer.
    • Never use OneSuite Mobile Dialer (unless you have the OneSuite app open)
    • Use my instructions below for each call: handy for international calls, see next step
  6. If you choose a, b or c, you are done! If you choose d, go to My Instructions.
  7. Enter the beginning phone numbers for the calls you wish to be made by OneSuite Mobile Dialer instead of regular dialer. Usually this means international numbers beginning with 011. You can hit the “+” sign to add another set of numbers.
  8. Go to My Preferred Dialer, select OneSuite Mobile Dialer.

Improve Your Calling Experience

Expedite your OneSuite Mobile Dialer connection time by following these useful tips:

  1. ZipDial + RapiDial = Speed
Save your phone under ZipDial + RapiDial so your OneSuite Mobile Dialer won’t need to take the extra step of entering your account number/PIN for you during the dialing process. See our previous blog post for ZipDial and RapiDial set up instructions. Remember that you DO NOT need to enter your Account Number (PIN) under Settings > Direct Dial Settings when your phone is saved under ZipDial.
  2. Skip Balance and Minute Announcements
For an even faster connection, when you are setting up ZipDial, under PIN Management, leave out your Balance and Minute Announcements so it won’t be included in the prompts.
  3. One Touch Dialing
Keep Quick Dial Mode turned on (see Setup, step 3) to call straight from your contact list.
  4. OneSuite Mobile Dialer Integration
This great feature is unique to Android! Set up instructions (see Setup, step 6 and 7) for all your international calls to be automatically made by OneSuite Mobile Dialer. You don’t even have to open the app!
  5. Destination Number Format
    In your contacts:
    Enter your U.S. and Canada numbers as: 1 + area code + phone number;
Enter your international numbers as: 011 + country code + area code + phone number.

Account Management

Mobile Site
To access your OneSuite account, visit our companion mobile site to manage settings, look up call history, check rates and search for local, toll-free or international access numbers.

You can also reach the mobile site from your app, under Settings > OneSuite My Account > Go to My Account.

    Hi wonder_6908,

Please try searching the OneSuite app in "Play Store", instead of "Hi Market" from your smartphone. Or you can go to the following link directly for downloading the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onesuite.mobile.android.onesuitemobiledialer&feature=search_result

    Hope it helps!

    Hi Chibi,

Use of the application itself is FREE, local access rates are applied for usage, as it is intended to be used alongside your OneSuite account. When using the app to make calls, bear in mind that your mobile carrier may charge you for the airtime minutes while you are connected using an OneSuite Access Number.

If you have unlimited plan with Verizon, then you will only get charged by OneSuite at the local access rates.

Please visit our FAQ for more information about the mobile dialer app.

I just installed the OneSuite Mobile app on my Android LG Lucid smartphone. Before I try using it, I've got questions about the charges I'll incur from making international calls from the U.S. to Japan. How is it different from making the calls from my landline? Does my carrier, Verizon, charge me for using my phone on top of my actual OneSuite long-distance minutes?

    Hi QZL,

We tested out the app at the office, and it seems to be working fine on our androids.

Can you email [email protected] your Android operation system version (this app is for v 1.5 and up), and you OneSuite username and email so we can look into this for you?

Also, do you have other calling/dialing apps installed on your Android?

We hope we can fix this for you asap!

    Thanks,
    Ming

It kept saying " I am sorry, it is not a valid number." I left my account number blank and I already have my phone number under zipdial.

    Hi Paul,

OneSuite's app does not currently support wi-fi roaming.

I would suggest OneSuite's VoIP service, SuiteAdvantage, for wi-fi roaming. There's no contracts so you can just use if for the month that you're away. This way, you don't have to be paying verizon.

You can find more details here: http://www.onesuite.com/aff_voip.asp. Or let me know if you'd like a walk through of the service.

    Hope that helped.

My Android phone doesn't have a SIM card. I am going to puerto rico and virigin islands and would like to be able to make calls through a wi-fi connection (will be roaming and don't want to pay verizon). Is this supported?

Hello Monique, we're glad you got in touch, let's just make sure the settings have been set up correctly.

I'm sure you've already followed the instructions in this blog post, but can you check again under settings:

    1. Quick Dial Mode is checked
    2. I recommend that you go to your account to save your EVO phone # under ZipDial. If this is set up, leave "Account Number (PIN) blank.
    3. Under "Integration": When making calls, check "Use my instructions below for each call"
    4. For my instructions, enter the country code of you wish to set up international calls with (for example, the UK would be +44)
    5. For my preferred dialer, select OneSuite.

Now you can just enter any UK number from your regular dialer, and OneSuite will take over.

And if unfortunately, you're still having problems, or would prefer to speak over the phone, please send us an email with your contact info to [email protected], and we'll take it from there!

Hi Donnie, you planned well! Yes, you can make a call back to the US with OneSuite without using your data connection.

I suggest you pick up a local SIM card in Italy, change your dialer access number from your current US local access to OneSuite's Italy access number "800788425" And you can make calls as usual.

Let me know if anything else needs to be cleared up, enjoy your trip.

I'm going to Italy next month. Can I make calls back to US with One Suite without using my data connection? Seems uninformed people have been charged thousands of $$ for calls when they don't know the tips.
    Thanks.

    To YE,

Could you please try to delete, then enter your Account Number (PIN) again?

This should be your OneSuite Account Number. If your number is correct, but you are still experiencing trouble, please try:
    1. Deleting your Account Number (PIN)
    2. Go to http://www.onesuite.com and log in to your OneSuite Account,
    3. Under Long Distance > PIN Management, save the number of the phone you have installed OneSuite Mobile Dialer on as ZipDial.

This way, you should be able to make a call straight from your OneSuite Dialer, without it having to verify your account number. Please let me know if you require further assistance.

    Best,

    Michael

I'm using the OneSuite Mobile Dialer on my HTC EVO 4G Android phone, and I followed the instructions so that it would only dial for international calls; however, on local calls it seems to interrupt the process. When I try to dial from my contact list, the onesuite dialer seems to step in and I have to then pick a name again from my contact list. I will uninstall until I figure this out or somebody gets back to me.

it kept saying it is not a valid card number though I already double checked.

    Hi Raymond,

The current destination format accepted by OneSuite mobile dialer is the 011+country code+destination number, as stated under Improve Your Calling Experience > Destination Number Format in this blog post.

We will look into the +country code format for future release. Thank you for the download and your feedback!

    Regards,

    Michael

I'm using the OneSuite Mobile Dialer on my HTC EVO 4G Android phone and the "+" sign doesn't get converted to 011 in the OneSuite Mobile Dialer. When I used regular dialer on my phone, it is converted to "011". Please advise,

    Thanks.
